A trio of American students who met in the UK while their fathers were stationed here with the USAF, they were promoted by producer Ian Samwell and DJ Jeff Dexter as they developed a distinctive folk-rock style and wrote the landmark hit “A Horse With No Name”, a US No. 1 and UK No. 3, following it with the equally memorable “Ventura Highway”, capturing the mood of the classic era of west coast rock.
