Newcastle band The Animals, featuring the gritty voice of Eric Burdon and the distinctive organ of Alan Price, made a significant contribution to the music of the beat era with a run of memorable Top 10 hits in the mid-’60s, following their debut hit “Baby Let Me Take You Home” with the landmark classic No. 1 “The House Of The Rising Sun”. Over the next couple of years, they were rarely out of the Top 10, as they scored with “I’m Crying”, “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood”, “Bring It On Home To Me”, “We’ve Gotta Get Out Of This Place”, “Its My Life” and “Don’t Bring Me Down”.
